Wingard identified as latest supplier to be at VW supplier park

Wingard Quality Supply has been named as the newest company to go into Volkswagen's supplier park.

Wingard will handle the tire and wheel assembly for Volkswagen, said Frank Fischer, chief executive of VW's Chattanooga operations.

The company plans to hire up to 25 employees, he said.

Fischer said the company will relocate its headquarters to Chattanooga from California and is also expected to bring additional jobs related to that shift.

Thomas Loafman, director of purchasing for Volkswagen Group of America, said Wingard has a history of quality work. "Wingard has earned a reputation for quality with other manufacturers in the automotive industry," Loafman said.

Five companies had previously been announced as occupants of the supplier park that will employ a total of 500.

VW plans to begin production of a new mid-sized sedan at its auto assembly plant in Chattanooga early next year.

That $1 billion plant is at Enterprise South Industrial Park, which occupies a portion of the old Volunteer Army Ammunition Plant.
