Hamilton County: New system to help heart attack victims

Hamilton County officials and representatives from the three major hospitals today touted a new system in ambulances that they say will help get information about patients who may have had a heart attack to the hospital faster.

Stressing that "time is muscle," Hamilton County EMS Chief Ken Wilkerson said the new system would cut the time it takes for patients to leave their homes until they receive treatment.

Under the new system, paramedics enter a patient's information into a computer in the ambulance and then transmit the data via the Internet to the hospital.
