Judy Tate

Judy M. Tate, 72 , died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Judy was born in Atlanta, Ga., and was the daughter of the late Louis Camp and Daisy Page.

Judy was a devoted mother and grandmother and she loved her grandchildren more than life itself. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Chattanooga. Judy retired from SunTrust Bank (formerly American National Bank) after over 20 years of service as executive secretary to the president, chairman and to the board of directors.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Clarence Lee Tate.

She is survived by her three children: Steve Tate, Greg Tate (Jimmy Peters) and Kim Tate (Bill) Reason; four grandchildren, Kathryn, Olivia, Madeleine and William, all of Chattanooga; one sister, Phoebe (Guy) Tillman; and one brother, Stan (Bonnie) Camp, both of Atlanta; she also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 21st , at 10 a.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home-East Chapel, 404 S. Moore Road and graveside services will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery 1200 Bailey Avenue immediately following the memorial service.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20th, 2010 at the funeral home.

Marion Wilson

Marion Wasson Wilson died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, one day before her 102nd birthday.

She was born in a mining camp in Montague, Tenn., graduated from City High School, attended the University of Chattanooga and graduated with honors from Brenau College. As a kindergartner Marion knew she wanted to be a teacher and served that calling with devotion all of her life. She taught in the Chattanooga public schools for 35 years; the last 25, in the fifth and sixth grades of Missionary Ridge Elementary.

The Peaks, Hornsbys, Griffiths and Wassons of Meigs County were Marion's treasured ancestors, and "going to the country" to visit these special relatives was an important part of her life. Dancing on the river barges, riding horses, driving a Model T at age 13 and worshipping at the Oak Grove Church were cherished memories.

In 1934, Marion and Thomas Franklin (Frank) Wilson of Apison were married. They shared 56 years of adventure together even making a trip around the world on a freighter. At all times, through depression, wars, health issues, and loss of a child, Marion and Frank were gifted with an unwavering faith in God and a great sense of joy.

Marion was a devoted member of Saint Andrews United Methodist Church until it closed and then of First-Centenary United Methodist Church. Well into her nineties, Marion continued to teach in Sunday School and Women's Bible Study groups. She consistently demonstrated gratitude, generosity, encouragement, wisdom and a great love of fun!

Marion was predeceased by her husband; her infant son, Thomas Franklin Wilson Jr.; her parents, James Edward Wasson and Lula Hornsby Wasson; her brother, Edward Hornsby Wasson; and sister, Sara Wasson Snow.

She is survived by her daughter Sara (Sally) Richardson and husband, A. Cave Richardson. Jr.; her granddaughter, Jennifer Ellen Ford and husband, Lane; her grandson, Matthew Franklin Richardson; her great-granddaughters, Gracen, Hannah and Maryl Ford; her sister, Margaret Wasson Smith; and 11 special nieces and nephews and their families.

Marion's family wishes to express deep gratitude to her physician Dr. Kellie Jolley and caregivers Louise Hampton-Daniel, Rita Harden and Erin Simmons.

A celebration of Marion's life will take place at First-Centenary UMC at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 19. Officiates are Dr. David Harr and Rev. Marvin Howard. Jennifer Ford will deliver the eulogy.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 till noon before the service.

Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery at 1 p.m.

Active pallbearers are; Lawrence McDaris of Cleveland, Edward Wasson of Atlanta, Stewart Smith of Evansville, Ind., David Smith, Tom Snow and Bob Richardson of Chattanooga.

Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Seniors of Saint Andrews and members of the Ault-Pacesetters Sunday School Class of First-Centenary UMC.

Harry Zelinsky

Harry P. Zelinsky, 95, of Chattanooga, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, in an area health care facility.

Mr. Zelinsky was retired from Chattanooga Boiler and Tank Company with 30 years of service and a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army. He was a member of Sumach Cumberland Presbyterian Church and held membership with the Cherokee Council of the Boy Scouts of America where he received the Silver Beaver award. He was also a member of the Order of the Arrow.

He was the son of the late Ernst & Mary Zelinsky and was preceded in death by a son, Donald Zelinsky, sister, Dorothy Hiddlebiddle; and a great-granddaughter, Katie Cole.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Hayes Zelinsky; four daughters, Jan (Jay) Green, Judy (Tim) Redmond, all of Crandall, Ga.; Carolyn (Jerry) Luffman, Chatsworth; Susan (Terry) Stevens, Chattanooga; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; two nieces.

Services will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday at Sumach Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Sam Melton officiating.

Interment will be in the Church Cemetery with David Redmond, John Boyd, Terry Stevens, Ken Ogles, George Bryant and John Thomte serving as pallbearers.

Mr. Zelinsky will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

Wiley Allmon

KNOXVILLE - Wiley R. Allmon, W4HPK, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at the Ben Atchley Tennessee State Veterans Home.

Wiley was a WW II Army veteran, having fought in the Battle of the Bulge with the United States Army, 88th Cavalry, 8th Armored Division. Friends and family will remember him as a fix-it person and a builder of power supplies. His hobby was amateur radio. He took very seriously his membership in this world-wide group of communicators who helped those in need and emergency situations. Wiley was a member of Ridgedale Baptist Church.

Family members preceeding him in death are his parents, Anna Mae and Thomas Allmon; sisters, Sue Biggs and Willa Mae Kennedy; Glenn Privette (brother-in-law); Edith and Andrew Privette (mother and father-in-law).

He is survived by Mildred Privette Allmon, his wife; daughters and sons-in-law, Wylene and Joe Vrba, Laura and Keith Thompson (Chattanooga), daughter, Beth Allmon; and special friend, Mia Kirkham.

Surviving grandchildren are Jesse and Allison Thompson (Nashville), Will Thompson (Chattanooga), Leah and Andy McCorkle (Maryville) and Joey Vrba. Evan Thompson (Chattanooga) is his only great-grandchild. His brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Betty Allmon reside in Maryville. Sister-in-law Evelyn Bannister and Jack reside in Chattanooga. Brother-in-law Glenn Biggs resides in Knoxville.

Uncle Wiley will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will meet at the entrance to Highland Memorial Cemetery at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday for Graveside Services at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Paul McNeil and the Rev. Marshall Duncan officiating and full military honors conducted by the Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard, and music by Bagpiper Kay Irwin. Honorary pallbearers will be Ham Radio Operators.

WHITWELL - Donald Ray Pickett, 64, passed away Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010.

He was preceded in death by parents, Riley and Minnie Pickett; sister, Helen Pickett Billingsley.

Survivors include brothers and sisters, Dolly Cleo Campbell, Tula Mae Coppinger, Ernest Pickett of Whitwell, Juanita Scott, Odell Moore of Flint, Mich.

PALMER - Steve J. "Squeak" Turner, 61, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010 at his home.

He was a self employed truck driver and business owner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Cleo Meeks Turner; wife, Carolyn Foshee Turner; step-son, Tony Sanders; brothers, Jack and Lewis Turner.

He is survived by his sons, Steve (Fatima) Turner and Duke (Carrie) Turner; brother, Joe (Mary) Turner; sisters, Margaret Gipson and Inez (James) Harris; grandchildren, Alec, Kassidy, Kage and Stephen Turner, Ty, Tanner and Alexis Sanders.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Ministers Johnny Gipson and John Potts officiating with burial to follow in the Fall Creek Cemetery.

Jennie Webb

JASPER - Jennie Mae Thomas Webb, 72, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010.

She was a member of Baptist Hill Baptist Church and had retired from the Quik Check.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Webb; an infant son; parents, Lum and Celia Jones Thomas; and a brother, J. B. Thomas.

Jennie is survived by her daughters, Susie (Ronnie) Moore and Kathy (Mark) White; grandchildren, Richard Knox, Brera and Amanda Moore; brothers, Sonny and James Thomas; sisters, Elizabeth Thomas, Clara Holbrook, and Thelma (Henry) Kilgore; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m. CST on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010 with Rev. Roger Webb officiating.

Interment will follow in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.

JamesWilliams

CLEVELAND - James David Williams, 64, passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at his residence with his loving family by his side.

David retired in 2002 after a very accomplished sales career starting with Magic Chef and ending with Maytag Appliances. He served on the President's Council numerous times over the years and received the Bradford Rymer Cup. He was an avid golfer and served on the Board of Directors of Hurricane Creek Country Club in Anna, Texas. He was a member of the Cleveland Country Club and Lodge #1944 Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. He attended the Mt. Olive Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James H. "Monk" and Aleita Williams. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Jackie Williams and father-in-law, Sam McDaniel.

Survivors include wife, Kaye McDaniel Williams; daughter and son-in-law, LeeAnn and Dewayne Lowe of Cleveland; daughter, Pamela Knudsen of Allen, Texas; and son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Katie Williams of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Ashley and David Lowe of Cleveland and Samantha Knudsen of Allen; great-granddaughter, Gracie Glover of Cleveland; mother-in-law, Polly McDaniel Scoggins of Cleveland. Also surviving are his brothers and their wives, Steve Williams, Denny and Judi Williams, Mark and Regina Williams; and sister and brother-in-law, Terri and Allen Murray; Sister-in-law, Debbie Williams; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held today, Jan. 18, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Sears officiating.

Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

TUNNEL HILL - Mark Anthony "Mose" Bell, 48, passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 2010.

He was from Tunnel Hill, Ga., but had spent most of his life in Chickamauga.

He was preceded in death by his father, Manuel Bell and brother, Terry E. Bell.

He is survived by his mother, Joyce Bell Smith; brother, Michael Bell; sisters, Lisa (Rolando) Arguetta, Kimberly (Timmey) Cooper, all of Tunnel Hill; Denise (Melvin) Worley of Reseca; and several special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel.

CHICKAMAUGA - Charles "Roddy" Bolt, 74, passed away Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010.

He was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area and was of the Baptist faith. He had worked in the Auto Parts Industry for more than 44 years and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Campbell Bolt.

Survivors include three children, Chris Bolt and Brian Bolt both of Chickamauga, Ga., and Rhonda Liles of Elkins, Ark.; four grandchildren, Seth, Lane, Paige and Brooke; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010 in the Grand Center Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Wilton Grimes officiating.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

RINGGOLD - Clyde Cox, 62, passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 2010.

A lifelong resident of Ringgold, Mr. Cox was retired from the United States Postal Service after 24 years of service. He was a member of the Northwest GA Tractor Club, the Chickamauga Tractor Club, the American Legion, the VFW, and Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, James R. Cox; his first wife, Sharon Davis Cox; a daughter, Dianna Cox; and a brother, Ricky Cox.

Survivors include his wife, Gwen Cox; children, Trina (Michael) Clark, LaFayette, John (Molly) Richardson, Ooltewah, Sabrina (Chris) Miller, Knoxville, Tenn., James (April) Richardson, East Brainerd and Robert (Kelly) Cox, Ringgold; mother, Agnes Cox, Rock Spring; grandchildren, Cullen, Audrey, Jade, Patrick, Preston, Max, Kiara, Hannah, Klaudya, Kadance and Junior; brothers, Jimmy Cox, Rock Spring, and Claude Cox, Trion; sisters, Linda Alexander and Joyce Parker, both of Rock Spring, and Darlene Blalock, LaFayette.
