Microsoft to train Georgians for new jobs

Microsoft will give 25,900 free job training courses to Georgians as part of its new public-private partnership with the state, Gov. Sonny Perdue announced this morning in a news conference at the Capitol in Atlanta.

"This partnership will provide thousands of Georgians with the education and skills required to succeed in the new economy," Gov. Perdue said.

Georgia and nine other states are joined in the "Microsoft Elevate America" partnerships and other countries worldwide.

The courses, in Microsoft software, business certification and advanced technology, will be given as vouchers online and at Workforce Investment Act One Stop Centers and select Goodwill Industries locations starting today and continuing through through April 22.
