Tennessee: Couple charged in death of son's girlfriend

WAYNESBORO, Tenn. - Police have charged a southern Middle Tennessee couple with first-degree murder in the death of their son's girlfriend.

A statement from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirmed charges against 46-year-old Steven Beersdorf and 43-year-old Sylvia Beersdorf of Waynesboro.

The TBI said 21-year-old Rosemary Goggins has been missing for more than a week. Goggins was the girlfriend of Steven Beersdorf Jr., who is home on leave from the Tennessee National Guard. The agency said Goggins was the mother of the younger Beersdorf's 11-month-old son.

Goggins' burned car was found Jan. 15 on a rural road in McNairy County.

Authorities continue to search the Tennessee River near Clifton for her body.
