East Ridge Police catch car burglar in the act

Mark Davis Jr. awaits a Tuesday court date after his arrest by plainclothes police officers on charges of auto burglary.

East Ridge police officers in the Tactical Patrol Unit spotted Mr. Davis entering a Ford F-150 pickup truck in the Cracker Barrel parking lot on 1460 Mack Smith Road Sunday at 3:45 p.m., according to a police news release.

Police detained Mr. Davis until the truck's owner could be found. The owner pressed charges for the alleged theft. After being arrested, Mr. Davis tried to flee on foot.

Mr. Davis was charged with burglary of an automobile and escape. His bond was set at $12,500. He is scheduled to appear in East Ridge Municipal Court on Jan. 26.
