Tennessee: Governor's office OKs closing state offices due to weather

NASHVILLE - Tennessee state offices are being allowed to close because of the winter weather.

A release from Gov. Phil Bredesen's office says state agencies may close offices in counties in the Central time zone at noon and in the Eastern time zone at 2 p.m.

Department of General Services spokeswoman Lola Potter said officials in each county will decide whether it is necessary to close offices there. Some counties in East Tennessee had not seen any snow as of midday.

State inclement weather policy allows the governor's office to decide to close offices on a county-by-county basis.
