Wamp raises $1.3 million

U.S. Rep. Zach Wamp, a Republican candidate for governor, announced today that his campaign has more than doubled its fundraising totals by raising well over $1.3 million more for his campaign since the middle of last year.

"I am very thankful for the support we've received from so many hard-working Tennesseans who have contributed so generously to our campaign all across the state," Rep. Wamp said. "And I could not be more pleased that our momentum is just beginning to take off right when some of the other campaigns are starting to lag. We are clearly the campaign on the move. And we are going to win."

Rep. Wamp will report on Monday that he raised $1,318,022.20 during the July 1-Jan. 15 reporting period.

Rep. Wamp's report will show $2,571,212.56 as the grand total raised for his gubernatorial campaign through the Jan. 15 reporting deadline.

Figures disclosed by Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam indicate he hauled in $2.86 million between July 1 and Jan. 15, bringing his overall fundraising total to $5,737,583.46.

That compares with $1.42 million raised during the July 1-Jan. 15 period by Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey, the Senate speaker. That brings his total to $2,756,642, according to the campaign.
