Report shows 11 gunshot wounds in officer-involved shooting

A Hamilton County Medical Examiner's reports shows that 29-year-old Andrew Carr's body had 11 gunshot wounds after he charged police Tuesday morning shouting "suicide by cop."

The report, released this morning, is a preliminary examination of Mr. Carr's body. A full autopsy with details of toxicology and other factors may not be available for months, the medical examiner's office staff said.

Police responded at about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday to a 911 call from Mr. Carr that he was going to "kill himself or the cops would do it," said Capt. Tim Carroll in an earlier interview.

According to police Mr. Carr said he would surrender, but he ultimately walked out of his house pointing a revolver at three Chattanooga police officers standing 20-25 feet away.

The medical report states that Mr. Carr was upset about a "foreclosure issue" and was threatening suicide.

The three officers involved in the shooting have been placed on seven days of paid administrative leave, police said that is standard policy in an officer-involved shooting incident.
