Chattanooga: Judge to decide amount owed for faking cancer

A Chattanooga judge says he will decide how much restitution is owed by a woman who financially duped City Hall co-workers and patient support groups by falsely claiming she had breast cancer.

Defense attorneys and prosecutors haven't agreed how much 39-year-old Keele Maynor owes.

Maynor has pleaded guilty to felonies that include taking between $10,000 and $60,000 in a deal that carries a maximum possible six year prison sentence.

Instead of prison, her attorneys are seeking probation so she can work and repay money.

Hamilton County Criminal Court Judge Don Poole said at a Tuesday hearing he will decide the amount of restitution owed at Maynor's July 26 sentencing.
