Wamp reports $1.29 million in campaign war chest

NASHVILLE - Republican gubernatorial hopeful Zach Wamp had an estimated $1.29 million in cash on hand as of July 1 to run his campaign during the final weeks of the governor's race, according to his second quarter financial disclosure.

The April 1 through June 30 report shows the Chattanooga congressman raised $838,974 during the second quarter and had total disbursements of $1,731,382. About $1.41 million of that went for television advertising and the cost of producing commercials.

Mr. Wamp continues to raise funds for his effort in the three-man Aug. 5 Republican primary in which he faces Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey.
