Knox charging stations sought for electric cars

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Officials are determining where to locate roughly 350 charging stations for electric cars in the Knoxville area.

The 350 include 10 solar-powered stations in downtown Knoxville.

An undetermined number of electric cars are to arrive late this year. More than 100 locations have been reviewed.

Nashville and Chattanooga also are involved in similar projects that are test markets for such cars.

The Nissan LEAF and Chevy Volt are partners in the project.
