GULF SHORES, Ala. - The city of Gulf Shores has agreed to buy a vacant two-acre tract near the terminus of Ala. 59 for $3.25 million.
The parcel, which measures 350 feet wide and 240 feet deep, sits across Ala. 182 from Gulf Shores' main public beach.
The land was the site of a small amusement park for years beginning in the early 1980s. It has been vacant since Hurricane Ivan in 2004.
It's zoned for high-rise condominium and commercial development and was listed for $5.7 million.
Baldwin County tax rolls list a Hope Hull man as its owner. The land is expected to be used as a parking lot for the time being.
