Whole Foods Market Inc. plans to buy the Greenlife stores in Chattanooga and Asheville, N.C.
The Greenlife grocery in Chattanooga is located at Two North Shore on Manufacturers Road.
Chuck Pruett opened the original Greenlife in Chattanooga on Hixson Pike in Riverview in 1999 and then relocated it to the North Shore in November 2007.
He and Asheville business partner John Swann opened the Asheville store in 2004.
Whole Foods is an Austin, Texas-based chain that describes itself as the "world's leader in natural and organic foods." It has more than 270 stores in North America and the United Kingdom.
