Investigation continues into dogs thrown from overpass

Investigators from both Walker and Catoosa counties are looking for suspects in an animal cruelty case in which two dogs were thrown from an overpass onto U.S. Highway 27.

The dogs were taken from a home in Rossville in Catoosa County on Friday and thrown from the Georgia 2A overpass in Walker County, police said.

Though injured, the Labrador-bulldog mix and the beagle-bull mix were treated and released from a Fort Oglethorpe animal hospital, authorities said.

The owner reclaimed the dogs after seeing a news report about the incident, police said.

Police say they are questioning neighbors about the incident but don't have enough evidence to make any charges.
