Reward offered in animal cruelty case

A $500 reward is waiting for anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for throwing two dogs off a highway, Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson said Monday.

A white vehicle may have been involved in the crime of heaving the canines off the U.S. Highway 27 overpass over Battlefield Parkway in Walker County last Friday about 8:45 a.m., according to the sheriff.

Both dogs have been reunited with their owner in Catoosa County, spokeswoman Kim Jones said. They received medical care from the Animal Medical Center of Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga.

Anyone who may have relevant information is asked to call the Walker County Sheriff's Office at 706-638-1909.
