Vandals caused damage in excess of $100,000 to earth moving equipment at the site of the new Cleveland airport early Tuesday morning, the Bradley County Sheriff's Office said.
Investigators believe the scoop on the front of a track hoe was used to damage a road grader and dump truck and inflict heavy damage to a Caterpillar bulldozer, sheriff's office spokesman Bob Gault said.
Sheriff Jim Ruth authorized a reward up to $1,500 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of those responsible for damage at the Michigan Avenue Road site, Gault said.
As the investigation continues, Gault said the sheriff's office is asking anyone with information to call the BCSO Crime Tip Hotline at 423-728-7336, as soon as possible.
The sheriff's office will determine the amount of reward that is paid based on the value of the information in solving the case, Gault said.
