Bond hearing postponed for Whitfield County youth charged in grandmother's death

DALTON, Ga. - A 15-year-old Whitfield County boy charged with murder in the strangling death of his grandmother last week made his first appearance in court here this morning.

A bond hearing for Joshua Jaran Johnson was postponed. Outside court, talking to reporters, Johnson's attorney L. David Wolfe said his client simply came home and found his grandmother, Lorraine Frazier, 57, dead.

"There simply is no evidence he injured his grandmother," Wolfe said.

He said the boy went to school that day on the bus and came home on the bus, and there was no time to commit the crime.

Johnson's next hearing is set for Tuesday in Whitfield County Superior Court.
