Weather-related closings were announced throughout the day on Tuesday as stormy weather approached the Tennessee Valley. Weather officials predicted storms would hit Chattanooga round 5 p.m., but areas to the west saw storms earlier in the afternoon.
Following is a round up of some of the early dismissals so far:
* Dalton Middle School afternoon activities are canceled.
* Shepherd Community/Recreation Center: Drivers education classes canceled, rescheduled for 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
* City of East Ridge: City Hall and all city offices close at 4 p.m. and events and activities at Camp Jordon and the East Ridge Community Center set for Tuesday evening are canceled. Emergency and public works officials will work normal hours.
* East Ridge Municipal Court scheduled for tonight at 5 p.m. has been canceled due to the threat of severe weather. Anyone who is scheduled to be in East Ridge Municipal Court tonight is asked to call the court clerk's office to reschedule. The clerk's office can be reached at 867-2701.
