Painful tale is looking up after dog's run-in with shredder

Curiosity almost got the best of J.C. Ball's beloved grayish-brown Weimaraner, but 9-month-old Cole is one resilient pooch.

Early in the evening on March 2, blood-curdling yelps suddenly shattered the calm at Ball's Farragut home.

Much to his horror, Ball discovered Cole frantically struggling to free his tongue from a paper shredder.

"It happened in a quick instant," recounted Ball, who was at home with his girlfriend, Mary Smith.

"We were just hanging out and Mary went to run some paper through the shredder. (Cole) stuck his nose down there and it was done. It was pretty horrific.
