Defense solid in Mocs spring game

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team wrapped up spring practice this afternoon at Finley Stadium with the Blue & Gold game in front of an announced crowd of 2,791.

The White squad (first-team defense, second-team offense) beat the Blue (first-team offense, second-team defense) 27-14. White quarterback Graham Nichols, B.J. Coleman's backup, was named the offensive MVP for the second year in a row. White defensive tackle Nick Davison was named the defensive MVP.

After the game, next season's captains were announced. Voted on by the players, the 2011 captains are Coleman (for the second year in a row), linebacker Ryan Consiglio and safeties Jordan Tippit and Chris Lewis-Harris.
