Dalton State students receive first public safety scholarships

Two Dalton State College students today received the first-ever Public Safety Scholarships.

Hunter Key, son of Dalton Police Department Lt. Mike Key, and Brooke Satterfield, daughter of Dalton Fire Chief Bruce Satterfield, were selected for their academic achievement and financial need.

The Dalton State College Foundation plans to award the scholarships annually to dependents of Dalton police or fire department employees.

Fundraising and planning for the scholarships began more than three years ago. Since then, fundraising dinners and a golf tournament have helped make the awards possible.
