Today's storms have knocked out power to more than half of EPB's customers, EPB President Harold DePriest said tonight.
At 7:45 p.m., about 95,000 homes and businesses were without power, according to EPB officials.
DePriest said he suspects more than 100,000 customers will end up being without power sometime during the ongoing storms, making today the worst day for power outages in the 72-year history of EPB.
"It's probably going to take us several days to get everybody hooked up again," DePriest said.
The previous worst storm at EPB was the Blizzard of March 1993, which cut power to 74,000 customers.
"The working conditions are better, but this is by far the most number we have had without power," DePriest said.
