EPB: Power to be fully restored by next week

Power should be restored to all EPB users by the end of next week if no more severe weather hits the area, officials said.

As of 3 p.m. today, about 53,000 homes and businesses are without power in Chattanooga, said spokeswoman Danna Bailey.

The utility has more than 205 broken power poles so far and expect to find more before the restoration effort is complete, she said.

More than 1,020 people are working on repairs as of noon today, Bailey said. Crews have arrived from 16 different states, including Florida, Massachusetts, Michigan and Oklahoma, she said.

EPB warns residents to stay away from any downed power lines. To report a downed line or an outage, call 423-648-1372, email cicweb@epb.net or send a message via Twitter at EPB_Chattanooga or on Facebook at EPB of Chattanooga.

"We understand that our customers who have been without power are frustrated and we appreciate everyone's patience as we work to restore power," Bailey said. "We will continue to work, day and night, until every customer's power is restored."
