Krier makes trek from Colorado

Dawn Krier traveled all the way from Strasburg, Colo., some 1,291 miles with the Colorado Crush. The team flew in this weekend, and a few families drove the long distance so the team would be able to get to and from the fields.

"We plan to travel up the Lookout Mountain sometime this week," said Krier.

Other Crush parents said that the team really enjoyed the private tour of the Tennessee Aquarium that followed the opening ceremonies Sunday night.

"The humidity is going to be something to battle this week at the tournament as Colorado may be hot, but not this kind of hot," explained Krier. "The awnings that are over the bleachers are going to help a lot!"

Escaping the heat up North

"We need to represent for our state!" says Bill O'Connor of Twin Cities, Minn., who is here supporting the Minnesota Irish Gold. "We traveled down here to get away from the heat," he said about the record temperatures up North.

While in Chattanooga, he and the team are staying in the Comfort Inn downtown."I like that little diner [inside]," O'Connor says about the hotel. As for his plans, "the girls are going to the aquarium [today] after the game, and we want to see the zip lines and caves, too."

As a Minnesotan to the core, O'Connor added as he walked away, "Go Twins!"

Short hop from Huntsville

Andy Boyett and Jill Rice just keep coming back to Chattanooga. "It is our third time at Warner Park this season," said Boyett. The two are from Huntsville, Ala., and they have come to watch the Huntsville Sparks.

"We travel to this area a lot since we are so close," says Rice. During this visit some of the team members are staying close to Hamilton Place. "Yesterday the girls went to Lake Winnie" said Boyett.

The Sparks are here to play softball, of course, but, "Ruby Falls, the Incline, all on our to-do list," says Rice.
