Two men have been arrested in connection with a string of car break-ins in East Ridge, police said.
Anthony Lansden, 19, of Chattanooga, and his 16-year-old brother were arrested early this morning in the parking lot of the East Ridge Retirement Center, said Officer Erik Hopkins, spokesman for the city police department.
Lansden was charged with burglary of an automobile, theft, simple possession of marijuana and contributing to the delinquency of a minor and now is in Hamilton County Jail, Hopkins said.
His brother was charged with burglary of an automobile and theft and now is in the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center, Hopkins said.
East Ridge police increased their patrols after a recent rash of car break-ins, Hopkins said. A little after 2 a.m. today, officers responded to the area of North Mack Smith Road on a call of suspicious persons.
After finding Lansden and his brother, police discovered a GPS unit in Lansden's pockets, Hopkins said. The unit had been taken from a vehicle parked at a nearby motel, he said.
Lansden is scheduled to appear in East Ridge Municipal Court on Tuesday at 5 p.m., Hopkins said.
