Deck collapses in East Ridge, five sent to hospital

EAST RIDGE, Tenn. - Three adults and two children have been sent to the hospital after a second story deck collapsed at approximately 12:40 p.m., police say.

Firefighters arrived at 6944 Glen Errol Way in four minutes after the victims had fallen, police say.

First responders stabilized the patients who were suffering from neck and back pain before Lifeguard EMS transported them to Erlanger Medical Center and Children's Hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

East Ridge Fire and Building Inspection officials will be conducting a follow up investigation to determine the cause of the collapse.
