Students and parents trickled into University of Tennessee at Chattanooga housing this morning, with plastic bins, pillows and boxes full of clothes and shoes.
As part of the school's official move-in day, Jessica Sage, 18, and her parents drove this morning from Thompson's Station, Tenn., about two hours from Chattanooga. The freshman was being housed in a shared room at Guerry Apartments and, though it wasn't her first choice, she said she's happy to be one of the lucky students who got housing.
About 175 students are being housed at the nearby Chattanooga Choo Choo hotel. They started the process at 10 a.m. but some students had to wait until noon or 1 p.m. to be able to settle into their new rooms.
This year school officials are expecting to enroll about 2,200 freshman and more than 1,000 were expected to move in today.
