Icey Johnson, 41, is charged with arson.A 41-year-old woman has been charged with arson, accused of setting fire to a man's home after they got into an argument, fire officials say.
Icey Johnson also is charged setting fire to personal property after her boyfriend's car was set on fire on April 8, said Bruce Garner, spokesman for the Chattanooga Fire Department.
Johnson was taken to the Hamilton County Jail this morning, he said.
Witnesses told fire investigators that Thursday afternoon at 558 N. Kelley St. a man and a woman were arguing on the front porch. The pair tore each other's clothes, witnesses said, and the man pulled out a knife while the woman grabbed a brick, which she threw at him.
The woman's boyfriend then pulled up in a taxi and she climbed into the vehicle and left. But a short time later, witnesses said, she was seen leaving the house where the argument took place, and minutes later the house was on fire.
Chattanooga firefighters responded with five companies abut 6 p.m. Firefighters made their way inside and found the house was empty.
The fire was brought under control, but the damage was substantial, Garner said.
