A Volkswagen worker was seriously hurt at the Chattanooga assembly plant Wednesday, VW spokesman Scott Wilson said today.

Wilson said in an email that the injury was non-life-threatening.

"Volkswagen Chattanooga emergency personnel responded immediately and medical attention was given and we are reconstructing the series of events that lead to this accident," Wilson said in a statement. "Team member safety is our very first priority and we are deeply concerned about our colleague who was injured."

Volkswagen employs about 2,000 workers at its Chattanooga plant, which began making the VW Passat car in April.
