Dalton man whose murder charges were dismissed found dead

A Dalton, Ga., man who had murder charges dismissed in November was found dead in his grandmother's basement.

A family member found Bryan Dennington on his couch dead on Friday, days after he had last been seen alive, Dalton Police Department spokesman Bruce Frazier said. Dennington has lived in his grandmother's basement for several years.

There is no evidence of foul play, Frazier said.

Last April, Dennington was charged with multiple charges including felony murder after he was involved in a fatal stabbing with his friend William Vaughn.

The men had been in an argument in the car before the fight started, authorities said. But after Dennington was arrested and spent six months in jail, the Whitfield County Grand Jury dismissed his case.

Prosecutors said the evidence showed Dennington was acting in self defense.
