Braves acquire infielder Jack Wilson from Seattle

ATLANTA - The Atlanta Braves have added middle infield depth for the final month of the regular season, acquiring Jack Wilson from the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday night for a player to be named.

The Braves, who acquired outfielder Matt Diaz earlier Wednesday, also obtained cash from Seattle in the deal.

Wilson was hitting .249 in 62 games for Seattle and has been on the 15-day disabled list since Aug. 19 because of a bruised left heel.

Braves general manager Frank Wren said the team had a scout watch Wilson in pregame warm-ups Wednesday. Wren says he expects Wilson to be ready to play when he is eligible to come off the DL.

Wilson will be eligible if the NL wild card-leading Braves make the postseason.
