Chattanooga police are investigating a shooting in East Lake Courts.A man who was shot in East Lake Courts last night has been identified.
Franklin Jones, 26, was shot in the abdomen while he and some friends were walking near 2215 E. 25th St. Court, Chattanooga police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary said.
Jones told police a gunman stepped out from the shadows and began shooting at him repeatedly.
Jones' friends ran when the gunfire erupted, and the suspect fled shortly after shooting Jones. No one was able to describe the gunman because of poor lighting in the area, Weary said.
Police received multiple calls of shots fired before and during the incident, Weary said. Officers who were patrolling the area responded to several locations in the area but were unsuccessful in locating any shooters, Weary said.
