A 18-year-old woman was killed today in a single-vehicle crash in Grundy County, Tenn.
Whitney Gipson, 18, of Tracy City, Tenn., was driving a Nissan Maxima north on Tipple Road and lost control of the car when she attempted to negotiate a curve. The car went off the left side of the road and hit a tree, according to the accident report.
Gipson was pronounced dead on arrival at Emerald-Hodgson Hospital, the accident report said.
One 17-year-old passenger was flown to Erlanger hospital, and another 17-year-old passenger was taken to Emerald-Hodgson Hospital, treated and released, Dalya Qualls with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said.
