Poppy's Smokehouse opens permanent site

Poppy's Smokehouse is now open in the old Golden Palace restaurant, and the former mobile kitchen was so popular in the first few days at its brick and mortar home that owner David Soloff said the restaurant sold out of food.

In addition to the barbecue items customers already know and love, he is now serving hamburgers and sliders at the new location.

"They're like Krystals on steroids," said Soloff, who also added barbecue salads and more vegetable options to the menu.

Also debuting in the log cabin is Poppy's new "DTH" (Damn That's Hot) hot sauce.

"The name says it all," he said.
