A 17-year-old LaFayette High School student was arrested today in connection with a bomb threat that evacuated the school last week.

Police arrested the teenager, whose name has not yet been released, this morning after he admitted to writing the threat on the wall and leaving a device that looked like a bomb in a boy's bathroom on Friday, said Billy Mullis, the school's resource officer.

The student was charged with making terrorist threats, transmitting a false public alarm and using a hoax device, Mullis said.

The threat was discovered on the wall about 10 a.m. Friday and the device was found in the sink. The school was immediately evacuated and two hours later students were dismissed because of the cold and rainy weather.

The student told police he was only playing a prank to get out of school, Mullis said.
