Man arrested in Marion slaying

Chattanooga police have arrested 26-year-old Jarrod Pickett, who is wanted out of Marion County on homicide charges, according to police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary.

Pickett has been charged with criminal homicide in the Monday shooting of Kenneth Hudson, Marion County Sheriff Ronnie "Bo" Burnett said.

Pickett was found at the Motel 6 on Williams Street in downtown Chattanooga at 9:30 EST. He surrendered to police without incident and will be booked in the Hamilton County Jail, Weary said.

"We had some surveillance that made us aware of his location," said Burnett, who said investigators will be questioning Pickett tonight.

Burnett provided no further details about a motive for the slaying, or any more information about Pickett and Hudson's relationship.

Hudson's body was found Monday morning along Old Shellmound Road between Interstate 24 and the Nickajack Dam.

Investigators located Hudson's black 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck in a rural area of Dade County on Wednesday around 2:30 p.m.
