Chattanooga police search for hit-and-run driver

Chattanooga police are searching for a driver who struck a 58-year-old man early this morning when he was walking along Cummings Highway.

Police were flagged down by a man who said there was an intoxicated man walking along the highway at 2 a.m.

When officers arrived on scene, they found Jerry Webb in the roadway. He sustained injuries to his right leg and to the left side of his head, according to police.

A semi-truck driver told investigators that he found Webb in the roadway.

When he pulled up, he said, he saw a man and woman in a small gray car who checked on Webb and left the scene.

Webb was taken to Erlanger hospital. His condition was not immediately available this afternoon.
