Man found off Lightfoot Mill Road may have died of natural causes

Investigators believe the body found by two men Saturday may have belonged to a homeless man who died of natural causes, according to Chattanooga police investigators.

The final determination is pending the outcome of an autopsy by the Hamilton County Medical Examiner's Office. The identity of the man has not been released.

On Saturday just before noon, two men, who were looking for metal, discovered the body just off the roadway in the 3800 block of Lightfoot Mill Road.

The dead man's body was partially clothed and he was described as an older white male.

Initial X-rays and an examination do not show any signs of foul play, according to police.

An autopsy is being conducted today.
