Carrollton WR commits to UTC

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football program's Carrollton, Ga., connection has paid off again. Carrollton High School wide receiver Marlandas Crane said Monday night that he committed to the Mocs on Sunday after his official visit.

Already on UTC's roster from Carrollton are Nick Craig, Chas Presnell and J.D. and Wes Dothard, and the Trojans are coached by former UTC player Rayvan Teague. The addition of Crane would give UTC five players from CHS, more than from any other high school.

"I liked the environment there, I liked that they're coming off a winning season and I like that they run a pro-style offense," Crane said. "It's a good fit for me."

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Crane had 16 catches for 310 yards and four touchdowns this season as the Trojans advanced all the way to the Class AAA state championship game, where they fell 14-7 to Sandy Creek.

Crane is UTC's 11th commitment. National Signing Day is Feb. 2.
