Chattanooga: 1 wounded in Main Street shooting

An 18-year-old male was shot in the knee early Sunday when a fight started among a gathering of teens on Main Street, police said.

Chattanooga police spokeswoman Jerri Weary said a large group was gathered at 2500 E. Main St. shortly after midnight and a fight began. Police had already arrived when two separate rounds of gunshots rang out, Weary said.

In moments, police found Santonio Rutledge, who said he had been walking with his friends when he felt pain in his leg. He saw he was bleeding and realized he'd been shot, Weary said.

Rutledge was treated at Erlanger hospital for a gunshot wound to the knee area.

No one was arrested and no information is available on the suspect in the shooting.
