After taking a fall from a ladder, Erlanger Health System President and CEO Jim Brexler is recovering from a badly broken left arm and shoulder, according to a statement from spokeswoman Pat Charles.

Brexler is expected to be discharged today after a week in the hospital, according to the statement.

Brexler fell while painting a nursery for his expected twins at his and his wife Kelly's Signal Mountain home. He will return to work after making a full recovery, according to the statement.

Kelly Brexler is expected to delivery twins in late March or April.

In an e-mailed statement, Brexler said, "Even though I've been a model patient, our insurance department has been anxious to see me discharged, and my wife is equally enthusiastic about me not taking on any more painting chores."
