One Chattanooga area homeowner will get a visit from Extreme Makeover: Home Edition's Ty Pennington on Feb. 13 when the reality show star and his bullhorn tell the family they've been selected as the television show's project house.
The homebuilders spearheading the Extreme Home Makeover build in Chattanooga say they will cram six to nine months of construction into seven days when the reality show shoots in February.
"That's the norm, but this isn't the norm - it's extreme," said Jason Willard, owner and chief manager at Vision Homes.
At a news conference this morning, Willard and co-owner Craig Smith made a plea for volunteers, saying it would take a community-wide effort to build the house.
Neither Smith nor Willard would say where the project house would be, citing an agreement with the ABC television network.
According to the sponsorship packet network representatives are leaving with Chattanooga area businesses, the completed house will be revealed on Feb. 19. The show will also feature a "pep rally" at the Chattanoogan Hotel on Feb. 3, a kickoff on Feb. 14, and a fundraiser Feb. 17.
