Chattanooga police searching for suspect after Wilcox Boulevard shooting

Chattanooga police are seeking additional information about a shooting that occurred late Saturday night on Wilcox Boulevard.

Darien Houston suffered a gunshot wound to his buttocks while talking with friends and family in front yard of his of his mother's residence in the 1800 block of Wilcox Boulevard around 11 p.m., according to police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary.

Houston told police he was just standing in the yard when he suddenly felt something wet running down his right leg. He told police he didn't recall hearing gunshots or even feel the pain of a bullet striking him, Weary said.

Houston said he did recall people in the area shooting off fireworks.

Weary said responding officers were not able to locate any evidence of a crime scene. On Sunday evening, Weary said there are currently no suspects, witnesses or any additional evidence relating to this incident.

Houston was treated and released for his injury.
