Man killed in July 4 crash is identified

The man killed in a head-on collision on July Fourth has been identified.

Luis Enrique Valtierra was identified through through his fingerprint records, said Chattanooga police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary.

Valtierra's Collegedale address was invalid and made it difficult to locate family or friends here, she said. According to those who knew him, he has no family in the United States and police are still trying to locate his family in Mexico, Weary said.

He was killed at 7700 Lee Highway when the Toyota Celica he was driving crashed head-on into a Dodge van driven by 62-year-old Russell Turner, who was critically injured but not killed.

According to traffic investigators,Valtierra was driving too fast for roadway conditions and slid into the lane of the Dodge.
