PITTSBURGH - Pittsburgh-area police say an exotic dancer who left her two young sons without a baby sitter before a fire broke out and killed them is on the run with a girlfriend who doubles as her security guard.

Allegheny County police Lt. Andrew Schurman says Kiaira (kee-AR'-uh) Pollard became a fugitive today, a day after police filed criminal homicide and other charges against her in connection with the June 30 apartment fire that killed her 4-year-old and 7-year-old sons.

Police say Pollard failed to surrender and is believed to be on the run with Dayna Kenney, who doesn't face criminal charges but could if she helps Pollard elude authorities.

Police say Pollard pretended to call a baby sitter when she showed up at her burned apartment in North Versailles (vur-SAYLZ'), just southeast of Pittsburgh.

Neighbors say Pollard was an attentive mother.
