HUD asking for information from Multicultural chamber

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is sending a letter of inquiry to the Tennessee Multicultural Chamber of Commerce over $540,000 that HUD gave the chamber, a HUD spokesman said today.

Joe Phillips, HUD spokesman, said the chamber would have 15 days to respond and will be required to submit documents supporting the expenditure of the money, which reportedly wwas spent on the development of a Business Solutions Center that has never been built.

The Multicultural Chamber of Commerce has been under fire this week after a city audit review said there has been financial mismanagement in the organization.
