Bradley County starts redistricting process

Arkansas-Ole Miss Live Blog

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Local governments have until Jan. 1, 2012 to redraw their district lines and conform to the 2010 U.S. Census results.

Bradley County Commission Chairman Louie Alford appointed a redistricting committee Monday. Cleveland Mayor Tom Rowland plans to appoint a city committee next Monday.

In a handbook for redistricting, the Tennessee Comptroller's Office reminds local officials that they must adhere as close as possible to the goal of one person, one vote.

The new census shows Bradley County population at 98,963.
