CINCINNATI - Braves third baseman Chipper Jones could come off the disabled list for the start of a series Monday against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Jones had surgery on July 9 to fix torn cartilage in his right knee. He began a rehab assignment with Atlanta's Class A Rome team on Saturday night.
Manager Fredi Gonzalez said on Sunday that Jones felt good after the game. He'll rejoin the Braves in Atlanta on Monday and get examined. If there are no lingering problems, he'll be activated.
Jones was batting .259 with eight homers and 46 RBIs when he went on the DL. Atlanta trails Philadelphia in the NL East, but is in position to get the league's wild card berth.
