A Bradley County man has been charged with stealing a refrigerator from a tornado-damaged home on Willbrook Circle.

Cameron Andrew Mayo, 25, of a Michigan Avenue Road address, was taken into custody at the scene and charged with theft under $500, sheriff's office spokesman Bob Gault said in a news release.

Gault said a neighbor stopped deputies on patrol and reported he had seen someone taking the refrigerator earlier in the day. He described the suspect's truck and deputies saw it pull up to the same house.

Questioned, Mayo told deputies he had sold the refrigerator to a scrap-metals dealer, Gault said.

Mayo made bond and was released from the Bradley County Jail, Gault said.
